Red Apple, as it was officially known, was first introduced in January, 1952. The Watt Pottery pattern proved to be the Watt Pottery Companys very best selling pattern, and was still in production at the potterys end in 1965. Many different Watt Pottery Apple molds were produced including Apple Creamers, various sized Pitchers, Grease Jars, Sugar Bowls, and many other different sized bowls. The Watt Pottery Apple pattern remains very popular today.
There are a few different variations of the apple pattern. The earlier clay pottery pieces have the deep red apple surrounded by two green leaves, but most of the pieces have three leaves that are shaded a light to dark green. Other variations include Reduced Decoration Apple in which the apple looks like a red heart, the Open Apple showing the apples inside core, and the Double Apple, with two apples instead of one. The Reduced Apple, Double Apple, and Open Apple variations are getting more and more difficult to find. The Watt Pottery Apple pattern has always been a fan favorite of old time pottery collectors. This hand painted clay pottery is a timepiece.
